Where I have worked
Over my career I have worked with organisations of every size, from international corporations to medium and small firms, with teams spread across four continents, from Japan and Australia to the Americas.
About
15 years of delivering IT, across sales, marketing, HR, finance, integration platforms and medical education. I have never worked in only one domain, and that turned out to be the skill rather than the gap: most of what I am asked to do sits in a business I have not seen before, and the first job is always to understand it.

Background
Over my career I have worked with organisations of every size, from international corporations to medium and small firms, with teams spread across four continents, from Japan and Australia to the Americas.
I spent nine years at a global consumer-goods company, running IT initiatives across sales, marketing, HR and finance. Scope, timelines, vendors, budget, testing, rollout. The unglamorous parts that decide whether a project arrives.
At a Swiss medical foundation I owned the integration platform, the master-data hub and the identity tooling. I planned and coordinated the move of more than 25 live workflows to the cloud with zero downtime, and I was the person who found out why data stopped flowing between systems at two in the afternoon on a Tuesday.
Not a smaller version of the same job, a wider one. Inside a large organisation I owned one platform and handed the rest to other teams. Here I design, build, deploy, secure and operate the whole chain, and one person is answerable for all of it.
Over those same years I built and launched SmartStream, my own product, which runs in production with real users. So this is not only advice about how systems should be built.
I kept the rigour I learned inside those organisations. What is gone is the overhead.
How I work now
Some of what decides whether a project succeeds never appears in a proposal. A scope tied to how the work really happens. System architecture decided before code is written, so the parts fit together and still fit together in three years. Honest trade-offs. Tested releases. Documentation. And a system you own and can maintain yourself, rather than a black box with my name on it.
Understanding a problem quickly is what I am strongest at: business analysis, solution architecture, and translating between what the business means and what the technology can actually do. I come back with concrete proposals for how to execute, and where it makes sense I execute them myself. What I design is judged on cost and quality over the long run, not on whatever is quickest to build.
You do not have to arrive with a solution in mind. Describe the problem, and I will propose the option that fits. Where something falls outside what I do, I say so, and I either learn it or point you to someone who already knows it. The objective is the right solution for you, not the sale of a particular service.
